All slabs are 2.25" thick and can range from 10-12" wide pending customer request. ****(This ad is for one spalted shelf/mantel only and not mounting brackets)**** The back will be cut perfectly straight for installment purposes and each slab is sanded smooth and treated with a matte or satin clear coat (customer request). Spalting is created by "nature" and occurs with lighter toned wood species (maple, elm, sycamore, etc..) and is caused by the tree receiving too much stress either from the elements (harsh winters) or by a fungus that causes a staining pattern to be created throughout the wood grains.
